Homemade apple sauce.
Once the apples made it home from this past weekend’s trip to the orchard I was able to use my new food processor to make homemade apple sauce. It turned out great and the recipe is wicked easy. I recommend too things to speed up your sauce. 10 buy an apple core remover I just bought one and it really made the whole process much easier. 2) slice the apples in a food processor it also sped up the process and allowed the apples to cook more evenly.
The finished sauce taste great heated up and scooped over vanilla ice cream or on it’s own cold. I adapted it from about three online recipes I found, my recipe is below.
Home-made Apple sauce
15 small to medium sized apples peeled and cored and sliced in food processor.
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of allspice
1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 tablespoon of Rye Whiskey (optional)
Put all ingredents in large pot, boil on high for about an hour till apples are cooked through and most of the water has evaporated.
Put ingredients into food processor and blend till desired consistency.
